New Wizards forward, Adam Cristman, acquired at the beginning of the offseason from New England, will miss the start of the 2009 season with Kansas City. Cristman suffered an injury in his left foot that will keep him out for a little while. From reading the quote from Coach Onalfo it looks like Cristman is set to miss a few months with the injury, which is a big blow for the Wizards, who now are down one forward. While guys like Davy Arnaud and Herculez Gomez can play up top, they're now more suited to the Wizards midfield. With this development, the Wizards now sit with 3 forwards on their roster in Josh Wolff, Claudio Lopez, and Abe Thompson. The team also has Michael Kraus who made his first MLS appearance in the playoffs last year.
Cristman was just coming off a toe injury that had kept him out for much of the 2008 season with New England. That toe injury was still hampering him when camp started for KC this season, so Cristman was not expected to start, but this is still a big blow for KC.
Update: It appears that Cristman has broken the 5th metatarsal in his right foot and will miss 2-3 months.
Wow, thats lame.
