Matt Besler from Notre Dame. Besler is a local kid, played for KCFC in Overland Park. A little surprising pick, but he was rated as the number 4 defender by 3rd Degree and was an All American.

Ives said he was the best defender at that spot and was a solid pick for the Wizards since the early picks were a run on offense.
Nice to have a local kid again. Hopefully we will see more of the JOCO at Wizards games now..
I don't see how taking a local kid brings more Joco people out to games. It may bring out a few friends, but not that many.
Would have liked an exciting player up top - but when that early run on forwards happened glad KC showed the self-discipline to avoid picking a lesser forward
