The Wizards game on Saturday means a lot less now. The Wizards are into the playoffs thanks to an outstanding performance by Chris Rolfe. Rolfe went off for Chicago getting 3 goals and 2 assists, and the Fire down New York 5-2 to put the Wizards into the postseason. Chicago opened the scoring early on a clinical counter attacking goal that was finished by Rolfe. Juan Pablo Angel equalized for New York off a cross by Dave van den Bergh. Rolfe struck again after a corner was poorly cleared, Rolfe, took it off his chest and volleyed it into the net. Before the half was even over, Rolfe finished his hattrick as he beat the offside trap and scored near post. Brian McBride got the fourth off of a Diego Gutierrez cross that was played in from Rolfe. Daniel Woolard finished the scoring for Chicago off a cross from Rolfe. A late consolation for New York from Macoumba Kandji was not enough, as it was Chicago, not New York that looked like the team that needed a win tonight. In the end it was just a poor game by New York.
Still to be decided, though, is the Wizards' opponent, which will depend on the Wizards result this weekend, along with DC's result should KC lose.
