Two first half goals by Ryan Pore were enough to lead the KC Wizards reserves to a victory over the Chicago Fire this evening at Community America Ballpark, after the first team game against the Fire. Thanks to a season ticket holder perk, I was able to watch the game from the "expensive" seats field side, and sample the Wizards' Drop Kick Ale that they have. All of which combined for an enjoyable time. The beginning of the game was back and forth with neither side getting very many chances. The Wizards broke through late in the first half. After Pore had had a free kick tipped over the bar for a corner, the Wizards got the lead on the ensuing corner. After Roger Espinoza's corner came in, Michael Kraus headed the ball across, Ivan Trujillo got the ball and Pore finished the goal. The Wizards doubled the lead soon afterwards. Kraus sent a cross into the box, where Pore met it with a diving header, putting it past the Chicago keeper and doubling the lead.
The game at times was chippy, as Kraus got into a shoving match with a Chicago defender before a free kick, and Pore and Kurt Morsink were going at it with another Chicago player. In the second half, Kansas City continued to pressure, but couldn't find a third goal. Instead, it was Chicago that got the goal to cut the lead in half. In the end, though, the reserves were able to hold off the Fire and keep their hopes of winning the reserve league title alive.
Are the reserves in first place? Seems like Michael Kraus with 2 assists sunday is always around the goal at the right time. For someone with little playing time he makes the most of his time on the field.
ReplyDeleteFor the moment, yes they are. They're ahead of Houston, who has played one less game.
ReplyDeleteRyan Pore, 2 goals in a reserves match. LMAO! He's a MLS Reserves League Legend!
