Wizards captain, Jimmy Conrad, is now all star winning captain, Jimmy Conrad. Conrad played all 90 minutes, captaining the MLS all stars tonight against West Ham United at BMO Field in Toronto. United put up a good effort against the MLS all stars. They grabbed the lead through Dean Ashton in the 26th minute. A minute later, though, MLS was equal, as David Beckham fed Cuauhtemoc Blanco, who's cheeky back heal found Christian Gomez, who dribbled in and beat Robert Green to the far post to equalize. Before half time, Blanco had given MLS the lead. Juan Toja fed Blanco, who "broke" his defenders ankles before elegantly placing the ball into the far corner for a magnificent goal.
While MLS dominated the play in the second half, it was Ashton who equalized for West Ham United with his second goal of the season. Ashton's shot deflected off of Conrad, and went past Matt Reis, who had committed to the other side of the goal for Asthon's shot. Again, though, MLS came back. This time through Dwayne De Rosario. De Rosario dribbled into the box where he was fouled by a United defender. The resulting PK was converted by DeRo, as his shot bounced off the cross bar, off the ground and into the roof of the net to give the MLS all stars the lead that they would not relinquish.
MLS Man of the Match - Cuauhtemoc Blanco - The Fire midfielder/forward had a good game, his back heal and his goal, showed the class that Blanco has, both were first class.
Honorable Mention - Christian Gomez, David Beckham
More than that.
